Day Eight, Week Two

Friday.

The electricity meter.

Here it is at zero zero zero zero zero. We endeavor to keep record of how much electricity we use through the project. Today's electricity eaters were a table saw and a chop saw.

That got put in first thing this morning.

Then the soil was tested. It passed. It was very hard and our soil tester was very pleased. There are puddles on our site, which indicates that the material underneath is solid.

In celebration we began moving material to the site.

Mike got stung by a wasp.

50 lbs of nails (2 1/4" and 3 1/4" duplex) were purchased as were 50 lbs of 2" and 3" screws.

A 5/8th inch auger bit was purchased as well. It was used today during the construction of the footings.

The theodolite arrived today on a greyhound bus. It was used to really really dial in the site location.

How about those crazy numbers?

The steel company called to say they did the estimate wrong--it's actually $400 more than what they quoted. Win some, lose some, it's all the same to me.

Roland's idea of a good calculator:
1. they have to sit stable on a desk or counter top.
2. they have to have rubber buttons, otherwise your fingers slide off.

We went home at 5:15 in the rain.
