JUNE 21

The Solstice. They don't call it the longest day of the year for nothing!
Today is Bambi Nonymous' birthday. Let's have a shout out to our dear friend and supporter.

Today ended at 9:00 pm. We weren't able to start until we found the right oil for the compressor. Plenty got done, though--it was the FIRST DAY OF RAMMING!

Here's the first pile, described as "a mocha, southwesty, brown what ever the hell you call it." And here's a little secret: there's at least 6 distinct different soil colors in the wall. There's also many different lift heights and we let the lift lines get as wiggly as they wanted. It will be so exciting to take it out of the formwork.

There was a bit of disappointment with the tampers (the appliance, not the operators.) One stopped working all together.

We got more material. What kind of cretin doesn't love to watch the dump truck unload it's dirt?

It was fun watching the "water vapor" expand and linger in the sky for hours. "Water vapor" is fun that way.

It was also fun eating cherries from Fred's tree. They're ripe now.
